It’s installed into a web server, but a local computer can be configured as its own web server, hosting it for single-user testing or for learning purposes. WordPress is the most popular blogging system used on the Web today. It is completely customizable and can be used for almost anything. WordPress.com is a service that will get you started with a new and free WordPress-based blog in seconds. Some features include, a template-based system and plugin architecture. There are over 40,500 plugins available, which offer custom functions and features, allowing users to set their sites to their specific needs. Some WordPress users include Playstation, The Rolling Stones, and The New York Times.

These applications have a limited set of options, like adding new pages, blog posts, commenting, replying to comments, and moderating comments, and the ability to view the stats. It supports the Trackback and Pingback standards for displaying links to other sites that have also been linked to a post or an article. Automatic filters exist, allowing standardized formatting and the styling of text in articles.
